As Everything Eco have previously mentioned, there are a number of types of insulation that can be installed free of charge throughout the house in order to reduce heat loss and therefore result in reducing heating costs.
Underfloor Insulation requires the insulated material to be installed under the floorboards directly in between each and every joist in the floor. What this does is to ensure continuity below the damp proof course in the wall, to minimise heat loss through to the basement.
This saves on unnecessary heat losses through the floor and means you heat your property less and save on energy and home heating costs. This prevents the cold rising through the floor from the ground into your property.
